Advertising stamp collecting and your club
How?
- TV and daily papers are too expensive
- Radio is too diverse
- What goes into over 90% of NZ homes? A COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER!
Some basic information
- There are well over 100 such papers in New Zealand - but there is no central set-up
where a single ad can be placed.
- However, most provide group rates to cover all such papers in a region.
- Single column ads don't stand out very well. The most economical ad that does is
4 cm deep x 3 columns(11cm) wide (or 6cm x 2 col.) i.e. 44 column centimetres (CCM)
- Example: (based on prices quoted October 2005 and including GST)
- Casual ads 4 x 3 in each of the 7 Wellington region papers would cost $701
- One common ad would cost $496 if the total print area was 5 - 10,000 CCM
- It would cost $468 if the total area was above 10,000 CCM
- If four Wellington clubs joined it would cost $117 each for above 10,000 CCM
- If five joined it would cost $94 each
The offer
- Federation will pay for one ad (see copy below) which advertises the NZPF
Website (which in turn carries club information) at up to $100 per participating
club.
- It would be up to clubs in a region to get together, agree to participate, and
work out details with local papers.
- The participating club(s) would put in a second ad within 3 months at their own
cost.
- At their option this could have different but common copy, (e.g. a list of contacts for the region's clubs)
or they could pay more for e.g. a different club contact for different papers.
- Payment of the Federation subsidy would be on a reimbursement basis, by sending
copies of the bills and both the ads to the Federation Treasurer Sandra List, NZPF,
PO Box 19 119, Hamilton.
Will it work? We wont know until we try!
The Federation has put $4,000 into its 2006 budget to try.
Will YOUR club try?
