Horowhenua Philatelic Society Display

During the month of August, the Horowhenua Philatelic Society is holding a philatelic display in Te Takere, the new public library and community centre in Levin.

The exhibition shows the varied collecting interests of the members and includes stamps, items of postal history, books, catalogues, and collecting paraphernalia.

The club has copies of its programme for 2014 available along with contact details for members and information about the club’s meeting time.

It is hoped that the display will promote philately in the Levin area, and lead to new members joining the society.

Jenny Long, currently secretary of the NZ Postcard Society, has made many contributions to the hobbies of philately and deltiology over many years. She has an outstanding record of service in often ‘behind the scenes’ activities such as bin room manager, secretary to the jury, other administration and accounting support, catering, etc for philatelic exhibitions and postcard conventions. She still has had time to support her husband, daughter and grandson in their exhibiting endeavours and is exhibiting now in her right.Jenny was presented with her award by Karen Jeffrey, South Island Federation delegate at the July postcard meeting of the Christchurch Philatelic Society
