Jenny Long with her award

Jenny Long, currently secretary of the NZ Postcard Society, has made many contributions to the hobbies of philately and deltiology over many years. She has an outstanding record of service in often ‘behind the scenes’ activities such as bin room manager, secretary to the jury, other administration and accounting support, catering, etc for philatelic exhibitions and postcard conventions. She still has had time to support her husband, daughter and grandson in their exhibiting endeavours and is exhibiting now in her right.Jenny was presented with her award by Karen Jeffrey, South Island Federation delegate at the July postcard meeting of the Christchurch Philatelic Society

ThemeNZ Seminar/Workshop, Hamilton

The Thematic Association of NZ held a successful seminar/workshop for exhibitors of Thematic and Open class material in Hamilton 23-25 May.

The 24 attendees were kept busy from 8 pm on Friday evening until 3 pm on Sunday. They actively participated in questions, answers and discussions arising from presentations by a number of philatelic judges and during small team workshop sessions. The workshops involved looking at individuals’ exhibits or work-in-progress and providing constructive comment and ideas for possible change based on experience and the information provided earlier.

These sessions were supported by a wide range of exhibits and material from attendees and others who had generously provided their material for this purpose.
