The 2014 Wellington Regional Stamp Show took place during the weekend of 10-11 May at a new venue, the Chilton St James School, in Lower Hutt. Everyone agreed it was an ideal venue with good lighting and ample space.

The inter-club Neville Harris Memorial Trophy was held with a full complement of frames entered by each of the competing clubs. Wellington Philatelic Society (88 points) pipped Kapiti Philatelic Society (86) with Upper Hutt Stamp Club (84) and Hutt Valley Philatelic Society (82). There were a number of youth exhibits competing among adults and a couple of new exhibitors and all of these made a good showing.

Set-up and awaiting the rush of eager participants.

The show had ten dealers in attendance, there were some 80 frames of material on display, the local Hutt Valley Youth Club held their regular monthly meeting at the venue and refreshments could be purchased and consumed around good-sized round tables enabling companionable conversations to take place. All of this activity provided a good ‘buzz’.
